A Breeze in all Directions

On a very overcast morning, I slowly sip my herbal tea
In a cup with painted cherry blossoms
Gazing at a breeze that blows in all directions
And the sea birds riding gracefully on its tails
Day dreaming for long moments, my eyes spiral in all directions.
A silent flutter of the fireplace
Up and down
Up and down…
I close my eyes and imagine
Running among lightly painted daffodils
Reaching out into an almost perfect spring day
Confessing all the years of pain and anguish
Tears streaming down my flushed cheeks
I touch the soft petals that shine brightly like stars.
Once upon a time, I was a child with golden ringlets
And eyes as blue as a mountain sunset
I danced with the freedom that only someone new to life can understand-
Easily,
Endlessly,
Eternally.
Gentle bird song opens my eyes…
I sip slowly from a cup with painted cherry blossoms
Watching the trees blow slowly in all directions
And the sea birds riding gracefully on a breeze.
Lonely Grey

This morning
A lonely shade
Of light grey
The open bay
Flows around
And towards me:
Silvery ripples
A single sea bird
Traces the sky
While a light breeze
Trails through
The long red leaves
Of the plant that I stare
Long and hard at.
I take short sips
Of the lukewarm coffee
That I’ve reheated
Three times now
And the canaries dance
In their cages
One the color of lemons
The other a desert sunset
They watch each other
And takes turns
Chirping and singing
Back and forth…
Last nights dream
Won’t leave my mind
Why after all these years
I still think so much of you?
All I wanted now was to be good friends
And have closure
From those mornings
I woke in your arms
As the summer sun
Poured over our bodies…
canary song
the morning sky
lonely and grey
Taking flight

memories of summer
dancing through sunbeams
carried away quietly…
fallen, we rest together
in only whispers of breeze

honey moon
just like me
alone in its light…
midnight-
the honey moon
rolls down her cheeks
evening breeze
the leaves of a maple
just let go
evening breeze the way it rolls sparrow song
wind through the trees
wave after wave
of ocean
mountain wind
I strum a tune
of ocean blues
mountain road
leading the way
a single bluejay
mid-afternoon
the monarch
that came to visit
first light of morning
an orchestra of bird song
tuning up treetops
azure sky
hummingbird and I
dance in rainbows
rosemary-
the way the sun sets
across her back
